School of Architecture and Built Environment / Design Festival / 2021
The QUT graduating students of 2021 acknowledge and pay deep respects to the First Nations owners of the multiplicity of lands within which their projects are situated. Recent crises including unprecedented disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic have surely taught humanity many things, including the critical need to be immersed in the more-than-human world, and to repair the damage we have wrought on its systems. Landscape Architects design within these systems, proposing changes to our urban and regional environments at diverse scales, based on ethical principles as well as a deep study of relevant theory, history, science and other evidence. We aim to propose critical and creative responses to contemporary eco-social challenges, benefiting all members of landscape communities. This exhibition provides a glimpse of the projects of our 2021 graduates, who have each explored complex issues and challenges arising in our contemporary times and proposed new ideas including fresh ways to consider our role within this more-than-human world.
